Blog Assignment 1: A Little Information About Me

I was born October 21, 1988 in Mobile, AL. I am the oldest of three children, all of which are girls. I was raised in a two parent home by my mother and father. I am a very family oriented person. My sisters are my world. I want only the best for them in their lives and I hope they both succeed to do great things. My parents are always pushing us to do our best and I appreciate them for that.
I love to write, and I believe that passion is what pushed me to strive to be an english teacher. I also love to sing. Singing and writing help me to express different emotions I am feeling. When I write I feel like I am able to say things on my piece of paper that I may not be able to say out loud. I also love spending time with my family and friends.
I ended up attending the University of South Alabama, because it is a good quality education near the people I love and want to be around most. I am looking forward to finishing school and being able to teach teenage students the importance of writing and how it can be an escape from their everyday problems. I am looking forward to being one of those teacher who are passionate about what they are teaching and their students. I am nervous, but very excited.

  1. Hey Kendra. I bet it was fun growing up with just girls! My sister and I are super close also. It is nice to hear that someone grew up in a family with parents still together. It seems like that's very rare these days. You are very fortunate! If I were ever going to teach at the high school level, I'd also do English. However, I'm not that great of a writer! It's good that not only can you be passionate about something, but also talented at is as well. Good luck with your year! I'm sure any student will be happy to have you!

  2. Are you a song writer? That might provide a better source of income than teaching!

  3. That's funny Mr. Strange. I am not going into teaching for the money though. I am looking forward to hopefully giving students a different way of thinking and learning about writing.

  4. I really loved the fact that you do enjoy writing. I believe that will be a great benefit to you as an english teacher. There is a difference in teaching what you know about writing and teaching from your experiences in writing. Children can tell when teachers know what they are talking about and are being sincere. Information always sank in a bit deeper for me when I was in school when it came from personal experience. You will be a great asset to the education field.
